Braun Strowman’s Real Injury Timeline Released

WWE has announced via WWE.com that Raw Superstar Braun Strowman will be out of action for the next six months after undergoing elbow surgery this past Thursday.

Below is WWE’s official announcement:

“Braun Strowman underwent surgery following the attack by Roman Reigns last Monday on Raw, WWE.com can now confirm.

Immediately after the assault on Strowman’s injured shoulder and elbow by the former WWE Champion, The Monster Among Men left Raw in an ambulance and was able to get back to the United States for an evaluation this past Wednesday. Following the medical consultation, Strowman underwent surgery on Thursday in Birmingham, Ala. with Dr. Jeffrey Dugas. During the procedure, it was revealed, among his other injuries, that Strowman’s elbow had been shattered, and he is expected to miss up to six months of action as a result.

Check back with WWE.com and tune in to Raw tonight at 8/7 C on USA Network for more on this developing situation”

As previously reported, Strowman was already expected to take time away from WWE to undergo a surgical procedure on his elbow, which was initially expected to put him out of action for anywhere from four to six weeks, according to multiple reports. The recent storyline attack by Roman Reigns is what would have explained Strowman’s absence from WWE programming (in reality, however, Strowman has been dealing with issues regarding his elbow for the past several weeks), with Strowman eventually returning to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship, most likely at the Raw-exclusive Great Balls of Fire event. Obviously now, however, those plans have changed drastically.

In an update, Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the six months is a work by WWE and that Strowman is expected to return in time for a match at SummerSlam against WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. It’s possible he will be back in mid-July.

Meltzer the went on to speculate that WWE will swap Brock Lesnar’s original opponent for SummerSlam, which was most likely Seth Rollins or Finn Balor, for the main event of the Great Balls Of Fire in July.

It was announced on last night’s WWE Raw that a Fatal 5-Way will take at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on June 4th to determine the new #1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship. Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns will all be involved in the match.
