Sonnen Beating Tito in Trash Talk War

Chael Sonnen is widely regarded as the best trash talker in combat sports since Muhammad Ali. Of Tito Ortiz’s mic skills, you can say that during the sport’s darkest years he in no small part carried mixed martial arts. The pair fight at Bellator 170 on January 27, 2017.

Last week the two faced off in-studio, and Ortiz said all he hears is “gas coming out of his ass, and it’s not his butt.” The People’s Champ went to explain that Sonnen would soon “feel what Tito Ortiz feels like, and you know what, it’s going to be painful.”

On Friday, he did it again. The pair were brought into the cage at Bellator 163 for an interview and staredown.

“For god’s sake, will somebody please tell Tito Ortiz his zipper is down?” quipped Sonnen. “This is embarrassing!”

Later in the evening, Ortiz was given an opportunity to respond.

“I didn’t know he was gay, but hey, that’s his problem,” said Ortiz. “I got a lot of gay friends that he’ll probably like.”

Ortiz then repeated the jibe on his social network.

“Didn’t know u were gay,” he wrote. “Looking @ my crouch 2 see if my zipper was down? I don’t swing that way but I have a few friends that do.”

The post was quickly deleted but not in the interests of sense and taste. Tito just wanted to correct a typo.

Aaron Portier
Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
