“I’ve been dealing with a knee injury – I’m not going to lie – with this whole camp,” Rockhold (15-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) said during the event’s news conference held at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., which also hosts Saturday’s card “But I don’t pull out of fights. I fight through injuries; I don’t care what the circumstances are. I tore my MCL. I haven’t grappled this whole camp. I just started kicking last week.”
The mere mention of the injury sent Bisping (28-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC) on a mini-rant about Rockhold’s intention in disclosing the problem, accusing the champ of trying to provide an excuse should something go wrong during their rematch, which was booked when No. 1 contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was unable to take the fight due to his own knee injury and pending surgery.
“I don’t care about an insurance policy,” Rockhold said. “I don’t need an insurance policy to beat your ass.”
