John Cena  sent the internet into a frenzy over the weekend after posting a photo relating to CM Punk which in some people’s eyes may suggest the current UFC star might be about to make a shock return to WWE.

The photo posted is actually CM Punk’s Twitter profile photo of Paul Newman in the movie Slapshot. You may remember Cena posted a photo of AJ Styles last month prior to his surprise debut at the WWE Royal Rumble.

It’s very interesting Cena, WWE’s top name would tease in this manner.

It’s extremely unlikely Punk will be making a return given the way he left the company, lawsuits and the fact he is signed to UFC. It would be a something of a “miracle” if those issues were resolved, I would suggest he is merely referencing the movie, causing speculation among the IWC heading into Sunday’s WWE Fastlane PPV, but nothing more, I guess we should never say never.

Then, Cena has continued that trend by posting a photo of The Undertaker, which had long been rumored to have been Cena’s WrestleMania 32 opponent, until he got injured, although some reports in recent days suggest Cena may be fit enough to return to take on The Deadman. Posters have also leaked which show Cena and Undertaker on them, although these could have been produced by WWE prior to Cena’s injury.

The Wrestling Observer recently noted that The Undertaker has an opponent in line for WrestleMania 32 that’s not Cena, Braun Strowman, Brock Lesnar or Sting.

It may just be Cena playing with his fans or even hinting that The Undertaker will return at tonight’s WWE Fastlane like when he posted a photo of AJ Styles prior to his Royal Rumble debut.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
