The WWE and Vince McMahon are at their wits end in competition with ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The ratings have continuously gotten lower and lower and Vince has been scrambling for options to raise those numbers none more so than his current moves this week after an abysmal last week.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was reportedly “furious” last week with Monday’s WWE Raw ratings and the news wasn’t much better this week with a new record low set.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes Vince McMahon has put “enormous pressure” on the WWE creative team to deliver, more so than the previous two low numbers. With this week’s Raw numbers lower than the September 21st show.
McMahon is known to make major changes when tv numbers dip, so it will be interesting to see what the company try to boost the numbers.
When in doubt go to your money maker, the guy that puts butts in seats and makes ratings peak. So Vince is planning on bringing the former UFC Heavyweight Champion to Raw this Monday night.
Brock Lesnar has been added to Monday’s Raw taping in Boston, MA, according to PWInsider.
WWE are reacting with pace to counteract the recent spate of low ratings and adding Lesnar is no doubt a direct response to try and bring back viewers as it goes up against Monday Night Football on ESPN.
This past Monday’s Raw set a new record low audience for the flagship brand.
Lesnar will be facing the Big Show two nights before in the main event of the WWE’s Madison Square Garden live show. Brock will be more than likely promoting the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view where he will be facing The Undertaker for their rubber match of this decade and their second time meeting in a Hell in a Cell match.
The pair originally met in a Hell in a Cell match in 2002 at No Mercy. Brock would go on to win that match, however now since their Wrestlemania 30 encounter where Lesnar broke the infamous streak of The Undertaker’s and Undertaker has since gotten revenge in the main event of Summerslam in August all will be on the line at Hell in a Cell.
