The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that 62-year-old David Angle, the brother of current TNA Wrestling star Kurt Angle, was arrested today and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail on homicide charges after his wife, 57-year-old Donna Angle, was found dead at the couple’s home this morning.
According to the report, police and paramedics responded to a domestic disturbance report at the home at approximately 6:24 AM this morning. Mrs. Angle was found unresponsive during this call and was taken to nearby St. Clair Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 7:13 AM.
The report further states that David Angle later conducted an interview with police, stating that he and his wife had engaged in an argument over alcohol. He also noted that he has issues with anger. He stated that his wife offered him some vodka at around 3:00 AM, but he declined her offer; however, he claims she continued to “badger him about drinking with her.” David Angle then noted that Mrs. Angle tried to kick him, to which he, in response, “grabbed both of her arms, pulled her off the couch, put his foot on her chest and then pulled.” He could not recall how long this occurred but did state that “it was not for minutes.” He then stated that he attempted to revive her before calling 911, but was not successful.
Kurt Angle’s manager has further requested that the privacy of his family be respected at this time.
Angle has had his fair share of legal troubles as well, however none to the extreme as homicide. The former Olympic Gold Medalist was charged with Driving Under the Influence after leaving a restaurant in September of 2007, however almost a year later the charges were dropped.
Another instance where Kurt was allegedly stalking an ex-girlfriend was brought to a forefront in 2009 however the pair reached an agreement to lose contact with each other. Then in March and again in September of 2011 Kurt was arrested for DUI then in 2013 he admitted himself into rehab after being arrested once again for DUI.
The former WWE Champion seems to be back on the right foot as he recently dropped the TNA Heavyweight Championship strap to Ethan Carter III and has taken a sabbatical from wrestling. Kurt announced that a return to World Wrestling Entertainment could be in the works for 2016.
