Sting challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last night at Night of Champions and the match was cut short due to an injury to Sting following a power bomb on the turnbuckle.

The official WWE website has confirmed an injury to Sting at Night of Champions:

“Sting reportedly sustained an injury Sunday night during his WWE World Heavyweight Title Match against champion Seth Rollins. Check back with WWE.com for more details and updates on Sting’s condition following Night of Champions.”

Sting is reportedly scheduled to be on tonight’s WWE Raw.

Sting’s manager Steve Martinez has issued the following update on Sting’s condition following last night’s WWE Night Of Champions event:

“As many of you may already know, Sting is undergoing treatment for the injuries he sustained in last night’s match with Seth Rollins. Doctors will continue to evaluate his condition, but he is a man of remarkable health and resiliency, especially at his age and with all he’s endured throughout his stellar career. Therefore, we are optimistic he will have a speedy recovery and return to full health soon. Sting has kept his body in excellent shape, due largely to the guidance he’s received from his personal trainer Jeff Cavaliere (ATHLEAN-X), and we trust this will prove beneficial to the recovery process. As a side note, we later learned the greatest damage to his body took place before the match was over, but being the true professional he is and among the hardest workers to ever step foot in the ring, he insisted to see the match through to the end.”

Sting may or may not be on Tonight’s episode of Raw but Chris Jericho is set to do so. Jericho made his return to WWE television during Sunday’s Night of Champions as the mystery partner for Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns’ match against The Wyatt Family.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Live noted that Jericho is now back with the company on a full-time basis and should be around for Royal Rumble and WrestleMania next year.

Jericho will be transitioning into a heel as the weeks and months progress. As of last night he tagged himself in which ended up costing his team the match so a potential feud with Reigns or Ambrose could make things very interesting.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
