Legacy FC 42 Results: Quayhagen Def. Njokuani by Split; 9 of 11 Bouts End in 1st Round

Legacy FC 42 was broadcast live out of the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Headlining the card is a contest between a former Bellator Veteran, Josh Quayhagen (7-3) took on a former UFC veteran in Anthony Njokuani (15-10). Dana White made a surprising guest appearance and was treated to a barrage of 1st round stoppages as fighters vied for his undivided attention.

Opening the night’s event were 3 amateur bouts and the results are as follows:

Amateur Undercard Bouts:

Fight 1. 170 lbs: Daniel Hoffpauir def. Trent Parker via Submission (guillotine choke) at 1:54 of Round 1.

Fight 2. 185 lbs: CJ Hancock def. Jimmy Boyette via Submission (kimura) at 1:32 of Round 1.

Fight 3. 125 lbs Female: Dominique Gonzalez def. Sabrina Benoit via TKO at 2:35 of Round 1.

Pro Undercard Bout: 

Fight 4. 125 lbs: Mike Trihn (2-1) def. Will Spiole (0-3) via Submission (arm-bar) at 1:16 of Round 2.

Pro Televised Bouts:

Fight 5. 165 lbs: Alex Morono (9-3) vs Marcus Andrusia (6-7)

Round 1: Alex missed a leg kick and ate one, then ate a body kick by Marcus. Alex landed a body kick then took Andrusia down and entered his guard. While in guard he landed a few hammer fists but Marcus threw up a triangle but Morono escaped and took the back of Marcus. Alex proceeded to land fists to the sides of Marcus’s head, then flattened him out and landed more and more until the referee came in to stop the contest.

Result: Alex Morono (10-3) def. Marcus Andrusia (6-8) via TKO at 3:18 of Round 1.

Fight 6. 130 lbs: Trent Meaux (2-0) vs Roberto Sanchez (1-0)

Round 1: Roberto lands an inside right hook then pulled guard standing to which Meaux utilized to immediately take him down into side mount. Then back Trent entered full guard of Sanchez, who put up a triangle only to be slammed by Meaux. Roberto snuck in a deep arm bar out of thin air and flipped Meaux over who was forced to submit.

Result: Roberto Sanchez (2-0) def. Trent Meaux (2-1) via Submission (arm-bar) at 1:40 of Round 1.

Fight 7. 135 lbs: Joel Scott (3-3) vs Justin Rader (3-1)

Round 1: Scott landed a couple of jabs early and landed a takedoewn but Rader powered his way back to his feet only to be met with a brain blasting right knee to the dome. Rader dropped and was out cold.

Result: Joel Scott (4-3) def. Justin Rader (3-2) via Knockout at :24 of Round 1.

Fight 8. 165 lbs: Sage Northcutt (3-0) vs Gage Duhon (5-1)

Round 1: Sage landed a body kick quick that rocked Gage early, he landed another one that hurt Duhon once more. Then the pair tied up and Sage scoop slammed Gage and entered full mount but Gage escaped. Northcutt then took Duhon down for a second time. Gage got up and landed a body knee on Sage but Northcutt responded with another take down and entered side mount. Northcutt landed some ground and pound to the side of Gage’s face, Duhon attempted an escape but Sage kept him on the ground. Sage landed some more shots on the ground then took the back of Gage and quickly sank in a rear naked choke for the tap.

Result: Sage Northcutt (4-0) def. Gage Duhon (5-2) via Submission (rear naked choke) at 4:26 of Round 1.

Fight 9. 125 lbs: Matt Schnell (7-2) vs Vanderlie Leites (5-4)

Round 1: Schnell landed a leg kick early then ate a body kick but returned fire with a hard right jab then a hard left followed by stiff left and right hooks. Schnell then landed an ungodly right uppercut and it was lights out for Leites.

Result: Matt Schnell (8-2) def. Vanderlie Leites (5-5) via TKO at :19 of Round 1

Fight 10 Co-Main Event. 185 lbs: Larry Crowe (9-4) vs Ryan Spann (7-1)

Round 1: Crowe came out and swung for the fences early throwing but got immediately got caught with a quick timed inside left hook that dropped Larry. Spann took advantage and landed right after right on the ground until the ref called another first round stoppage. Crowe tried to get up after the ref stopped the bout and fell backwards. In the post fight interview Spann asked UFC President Dana White who was in attendance to call him.

Result: Ryan Spann (8-1) def. Larry Crowe (9-5) via TKO at :09 of Round 1.

Fight 11. Main Event. 155lbs: Anthony Njokuani (15-10) vs Josh Quayhagen (7-3)

Round 1: Anthony lands a leg kick then eats one, then throws another of his own. Josh lands a body kick but takes another leg kick. Quayhagen stepped in and landed a body kick but ate another leg kick. Josh landed a hard right hook that wobbled Anthony momentarily, but he landed another leg kick. Josh landed another body kick then Njokuani caught his next kick and tripped him but let him up. Anthony lands another leg kick, but eats an over hand right. Quayhagen lands a take down but Anthony finds his feet only to eat a final body kick before the round ends.

Round 2: Anthony landed a quick body kick but ate a left hook. Njokuani landed another body kick, and the pair exchanged leg kicks. Josh missed a wild over hand right, and is nailed with a hard right hand from Anthony. Njokuani is catching Josh’s kicks and drops him with a right, Josh gets up and lands a jab but eats a body kick from Anthony. Njokuani lands a leg kick and jab, Josh lands a head kick but eats a right hook and body kick. Anthony lands a front kick, then catches another one of Josh’s kicks, takes him down and lands knees to the body as Quayhagen finds his feet along the fence. The pair exchange right hands. Anthony lands a right hook and left body kick to end the round. The bout seems to be 1 round a piece.

Round 3: Anthony lands a leg kick then a light head kick, then eats a leg kick. Njokuani lands a leg and body kick but eats a low blow that halts the action. Another leg followed by a body kick from Anthony, then Josh lands a punch to the body but his kick is caught and is taken down. Josh eats a body kick on his way up, Quayhagen lands a straight body kick and shoots for a take down. Njokuani defends and works out of it, Josh misses another take down and Anthony lands a right hand. Njokuani lands another right hand then a hard right body kick, then a triple jab and one more body kick to end the round and fight.

Result: Josh Quayhagen (8-3) def. Anthony Njokuani (15-11) via Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
