Eduardo Dantas (16-4) is one of the greatest young talents in the Bellator roster. After capturing the bantamweight title and making two successful title defenses, he lost the title to Joe Warren in a 5 round battle. Now looking to climb his way back to the title dance, Eduardo Dantas faces top bantamweight Mike Richman. With the assistance of a translator, we ask the Brazilian talent what it will take to be successful in this matchup.
SF: You began martial arts training and professional competition at a very early age. Have you ever wanted to do anything else professionally?
Dantas: I am happy doing what I’m doing, I love it. However, in the future, I would like to get into administration.
SF: Now that Spike is working with Glory and Premier Boxing Champions, have you ever considered competing in either?
Dantas: I intend to fight in kickboxing and professional jiujitsu.
SF: Would you have any interest in a promotion like Metamoris?
Dantas: I have intention to compete in submission grappling matches, so yes.
SF: What do you think Mike Richman’s greatest strengths and weaknesses are?
Dantas: He is very good in boxing and his form is good. I think he knows boxing well but isn’t good on the floor. I think that will work best for me.
SF: What is the most difficult part about being a fighter that most fans aren’t aware of?
Dantas: Here in Brazil, the hardest part is the sponsorship, it’s very difficult to achieve that. It’s difficult to get the money we need to achieve everything.
SF: If you could compete anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Dantas: I would like to fight in Las Vegas because that’s the place where everything happens. I want to be a part of it.
SF: Anything else you’d like to include?
Dantas: I trained a lot for this fight, I’m more complete. You’re going to see a new Dantas.
