The opening contest of Monday Night Raw pitted England’s own Wade Barrett answering the open challenge of the current WWE United States Champion John Cena. The match was a spectacle and both of the WWE Superstars got to perform their finishers.

However could the match have been better? Barrett vs Cena was not the original plan to start the evening. Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan was supposed to answer the call of the champ. Due to lingering neck injuries to Bryan he was subsequently sent home for the rest of the tour of the United Kingdom.

The general consensus is that if he doesn’t change his current high intensity and higher pace style of wrestling then his body may not hold up.

Former WWE wrestler and ring announcer Taz’s current tenure with TNA wrestling will not hold up. The pair have parted ways as of today and Taz released this news via his Twitter account.

Taz wrestled and commentated for the WWE for 9 years from 2000-2009, however no word if he will re-join the company in the near future.

Former Tag-Team Champion Jey Uso won’t re-join the company until at least 6 months as WWE.com released this statement regarding the Superstar:

“Former WWE Tag Team Champion Jey Uso has undergone surgery to repair recent injuries suffered in action at WrestleMania 31 Kickoff, causing him to be removed from the Fatal 4-Way WWE Tag Team Championship Match.

‘At WrestleMania, Jey suffered an anterior shoulder dislocation on the left arm, which was later evaluated back in Florida,’ said WWE physician Dr. Stephen Daquino, who also confirmed that Jey underwent surgery last week to tighten his rotator cuff and shoulder capsule to repair the injury, which had been aggravating him leading into WrestleMania.

While Jey hasn’t been seen in action since WrestleMania, Dr. Daquino was able to provide a soft timetable for the dynamic Superstar’s return.

‘It looks like [his] return is estimated [at] about six months.’”

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
