Former UFC Heavyweight Pat “HD” Barry has withdrawn from his Glory 20 matchup against Mourad Bouzidi. MMAmania.com confirmed with Glory World Series that Pat Barry has injured his hand in training.
Pat Barry did not have a successful debut in Glory, losing a first round KO by uppercut to Zack Mwekassa. While Pat Barry recovers from the hand injury, combatpress.com reports that kickboxer and mixed martial artist Dustin Jacoby will take Pat Barry’s place as Mourad Bouzidi’s opponent. Dustin Jacoby (4-4 kickboxing, 10-5 MMA) most recently competed in Bellator 132 against John Salter where he lost by 2nd round rear-naked choke. In the Glory arena, Jacoby has dropped 3 consecutive losses to Danyo Ilunga, Makato Uehara and Alex Pereira. A win for Jacoby over Bouzidi in Dubai would make for a huge turnaround victory for his career.
Mourad “The Silent Power” Bouzidi (76-22-2, 34 TKO’s) is 3-3 in his last 6 Glory bouts. Bouzidi most recently snapped two losses to Danyo Ilunga and Saulo Cavalari with a unanimous decision victory over Randy Blake at Glory 15. He is currently ranked #6 in Glory’s light heavyweight division and could move up the ranks with a win over Jacoby.
In addition to Mourad bouzidi vs. Dustin Jacoby, Glory 20: Dubai headlines Robin Van Roosmalen’s first lightweight title defense against Andy “The Machine” Ristie. Gabriel Varga and Mosab Amrani will square off for the honor of Glory’s first featherweight championship title in the co-main event. Also, a 4-man middleweight tournament featuring Jason Wilnis, Alex Pereira, Wayne Barrett and Simon Marcus determines the next contender to face Artem Levin for his title at Glory 21.
Who do you have taking the 4-man tournament? Do you think Roosmalen can defend his title against Ristie? Watch it all on Spike on April 3rd kicking off at 10/9C.
