UFC veteran welterweight Josh Koscheck (17-9) has stepped up to replace the injured Ben Saunders to face Erick Silva (17-5, 1 no-contest) at UFC Fight Night 62 in Silva’s backyard in Rio de Janeiro. Josh Koscheck returned to competition at UFC 184, suffering a north-south choke submission loss to Jake Ellenberger. Taking the fight on a short two weeks’ notice, “Kos” will be back in the octagon.

Erick Silva has gone 5-4 in the UFC, most recently defeating Mike Rhodes via 1st round submission at UFC Fight Night 58. Silva is a six-time “Performance of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” winner, but has alternating wins and losses in his 9 UFC fights. The opportunity to earn a victory over a UFC veteran like Koscheck is the big break Silva needs to end his win-loss pattern.

Josh Koscheck has suffered 4 consecutive losses in the UFC to Johny Hendricks, Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley and most recently to Jake Ellenberger. After losing the welterweight championship fight to Georges St-Pierre in 2010, the TUF 1 winner has gone 2-4.

UFC Fight Night 62 goes down on March 21st from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main cards starts at 10/7 PM ET/PT on Fox Sports 1. See if Josh Koscheck can change his luck against the young Brazilian in his home country.
