Premier Boxing Champions Debut Preview

Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions debuts this Saturday March 7th at 8:30 ET on NBC. For the first time in nearly 30 years, boxing returns to NBC on prime time joined by the return of historic boxing commentator Marv Albert. Keith Thurman puts his title on the line against Robert Guerrero and Adrien Broner faces John Molina Jr. in the night’s headlining bouts.

Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guerrero

(Keith Thurman vs. Diego Gabriel Cháves)

Keith “One Time” Thurman (24-0) has serious punching power as WBA welterweight champion, winning 21 of his 24 career victories by knockout. He is very physically similar to Robert Guerrero (32-2-1) as Thurman is only half an inch shorter and his reach is an inch shorter. The major difference will be in Thurman’s fighting style as an orthodox stance fighter, as Guerrero is a southpaw. Guerrero took nearly a year off after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Mayweather, coming back to earn a unanimous decision win over Yoshihiro Kamegai in June of 2014.

Adrien Broner vs. John Molina Jr.

Three-time world champion Adrien Broner (27-1) continues his chase for the title at 140 pounds when he squares off against hard-hitting contender John Molina Jr. (27-5). Adrien Broner rebounded from a WBA title loss to Marcos Maidana to defeat Carlos Molina and Emmanuel Taylor with unanimous decision wins. John Molina had a rough 2014, losing to Lucas Matthysse by KO and Humberto Soto by unanimous decision. A win over an opponent like Adrien Broner presents Molina Jr. with a perfect opportunity to snap his recent streak in the debut card of Premier Boxing Champions.

See the action of Premier Boxing Champions’ debut event on NBC at 8:30PM ET/5:30PM PT.
