UFC 184 Main Card Preview: Rousey vs. Zingano

With Weidman vs. Belfort scratched from the main event due to injury, Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano serves as the main event of UFC 184. Here are the main card fighters of the evening fighting from Staples Center.

Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano

Ronda Rousey (10-0) meets fellow undefeated bantamweight Cat Zingano (9-0) in the night’s main event. Ronda Rousey has proven herself many times over when it comes to armbar victories, but has also knocked out Sara McMann and Alexis Davis in her last two bouts. #1 bantamweight Zingano is 2-0 in the UFC, knocking out former challenger Meisha Tate and Amanda Nunes. Zingano has the punching power and fighting ability to be Rousey’s toughest opponent yet.

Raquel Pennington vs. Holly Holm

Raquel Pennington (5-4) takes on Holy Holm (7-0) in the second womens; bantamweight fight of UFC 184. Pennington has gone 2-1 in the UFC, most recently defeating Ashlee Evans-Smith via 1st round bulldog choke. Holly Holm has proven to be an excellent boxer as well as MMA fighter, winning the IBA Female and WBF Female Light Welterweight titles. She has won all 7 of her MMA bouts, 6 by way of knockout. The standing battle of this bout will be a brawl.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck

Jake Ellenberger (29-9) and Josh Koscheck (17-8) meet at welterweight in UFC 184. Ellenberger and Koscheck are in of a win, with both losing their last 3 fights consecutively. For the veteran welterweights, a fourth consecutive loss in the promotion puts them in dangerous waters.

Alan Jouban vs. Richard Walsh

Welterweights Alan Jouban (10-3) and Richard Walsh (8-2) are 1-1 so far in the UFC. Jouban has earned 7 knockout victories in his early career to Walsh’s 4. Both welterweights will be extremely competitive coming off of decision losses.

Tony Ferguson vs. Gleison Tibau

The last main card fight of UFC 184 features lightweights Tony Ferguson (17-3) and veteran Gleison Tibau (33-10). Tony Ferguson is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet system riding a 4-fight winning streak. Gleison Tibau fights and takes fights relentlessly, taking his second consecutive fight on short notice to replace Ferguson’s original opponent Yancy Medeiros.
