Bellator 134 is live on Spike TV on Friday from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Emanuel Newton will be making his third light heavyweight title defense against the undefeated Liam McGeary in the main event of the card. Here’s a look at the evening’s main card fighters of The British Invasion.
Emanuel Newton vs. Liam McGeary
Emanuel Newton (25-7-1) is one of Bellator’s staple fighters, known for his unorthodox fighting style and spinning back fist knockouts. Liam McGeary (9-0) is going to be his toughest opponent to date. Finishing all 9 of his pro career opponents with 5 knockouts and 4 submissions, McGeary is a formidable fighter whether the scrap is standing or on the ground.
Paul Daley vs. Andre Santos
Paul Daley (35-13-2) is a former Cage Rage, UFC and Strikeforce veteran. Heading into Bellator 134, Daley is 6-1 with 6 KO victories and one decision loss. His opponent Andre Santos (37-9) is a slick submission expert, taking 22 career victories by submission. The KO specialist vs. submission specialist dynamic will make for an awesome co-main event.
Cheick Kongo vs. King Mo
Cheick Kongo (22-9-2) packs one of the hardest punches of Bellator’s heavyweight division, going 4-1 in the promotion. He most recently defeated veteran Lavar Johnson by rear-naked choke at Bellator 123, working back to the top of the heavyweight division. King Mo (14-4) has moved up from light heavyweight up to face Kongo. Mo has gone 2-1 in his last three, knocking out Dustin Jacoby and Joe Vedepo.
Sokoudjou vs. Linton Vassell
Sokodjou (16-12) is a Pride, UFC and Dream Veteran going 2-0 in Bellator MMA. He faces British light heavyweight Linton Vassell, whose only loss in Bellator came by way of Emanuel Newton in his last contest.
Brennan Ward vs. Curtis Millender
Curtis Millender (7-0) was originally slated to face British Phenom Michael “Venom” Page, but Brennan Ward (9-3) has replaced him due to injury. Both need a win in the promotion as Millender makes his debut and Ward comes off of a 2-fight skid.
