Bellator 133 features middleweights Alexander “The Storm” Shlemenko and Melvin “No Mercy” Manhoef in the main event. Complete with Pat Curran, Julia Budd and wrestler Chris Honeycutt, some of Bellator’s best talent will be on display February 13th live from Fresno, CA’s Save Mart Center. We preview the fighters on the main card of the evening and what you can expect from the action.
Shlemenko vs. Manhoef
Alexander Shlemenko (50-9) is a Russian fighter with an unconventional but record-proven striking style. He successfully defended the middleweght top spot 3 times before losing the title to wrestler Brandon Halsey at Bellator 126. He is best known for his striking abilities, but faces equally impressive veteran striker Melvin Manhoef (29-12-1). Manhoef is a K-1 veteran with a scary reputation for power punches. He lost his most recent bout to Joe Schilling by second round KO, but not without giving the Glory talent hard knockdown punishment in the first round. A number of exciting scenarios are possible in this main event, but a distance decision seems highly improbable.
Curran vs. Weichel
Pat Curran (20-6) is a name synonymous with the Bellator brand. He is a Bellator lightweight and featherweight tournament winner, scrapping with the likes of Daniel Straus and Patricio Friere in the top of the featherweight division. His great technical boxing skills and well-rounded game are up against the submission expertise of Daniel “The Weasel” Weichel (34-8). Weichel is a former M-1 Global lightweight champion with an impressive 21 victories by submission.
Budd vs. Halloway
Julia Budd (6-2) touches gloves with Gabrielle Holloway (4-1) at featherweight. Julia Budd finished all of her last 4 fights in Invicta FC after competing in Strikeforce. Gabrielle Holloway replaced Budd’s original opponent Talita Nogueira due to injury. Holloway was 7-0 as an amateur, boasting only one professional loss to Latoya Walker by unanimous decision.
Honeycutt vs. MacFarlane
Chris Honeycutt (5-0) faces Clayton MacFarlane (4-0) at welterweight to round out the Bellator 133 main card. Honeycutt made a dominant Bellator debut in September, outwrestling Aaron Wilkonson and taking a TKO victory in the second round. Clayton MacFarlance heads into Bellator 133 with a perfect professional career earned in Xplode Fight Series.
Bellator 133 kicks off February 13th on Spike TV at 9/8C.
