Bloody Elbow reports that one of the most recognizable names in Women’s MMA has not stepped foot into the cage in nearly 4 years. Gina Carano was one of the first big stars of the women’s mixed martial arts circuit, which she was able to turn into a successful acting career.

Gina Carano was training yesterday at Combat Sports Academy in Dublin, California, home camp of Zoila Frausto-Gurgel and Miriam Nakamoto. Jennifer Ferguson posted a picture of herself, Zoila, and Carano to Instagram shortly after their workout. Gina Carano (7-1) fought in EliteXC primarily and also in Strikeforce. Her only career loss was to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino in 2009. Gina Carano has not competed since that loss in Strikeforce, primarily pursuing her acting career in her time away from competition. Whether Carano is training to stay in shape or training to compete is unknown at this time. What is known is that should Carano wish to compete again, she would be bound to compete in the UFC because of its acquisition of Strikeforce.

Since her departure from mixed martial arts, many have wondered if Gina Carano would be able to give Ronda Rousey a run for her money at the top of the bantamweight division, though Carano has competed most frequently at featherweight. It’s not widely known where Gina Carano’s competitive level is at since her time away from the cage. If she is dead set on competition once again, there’s no doubt that the UFC would fast track her matchup against Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey is far and away the biggest name in WMMA. if it were to ever come to fruition, Rousey vs. Carano would be sure to garner pay-per-view attention.

Today's training session @csagym was with these two!! They were awesome and I feel so fortunate!
