Chris Jericho has confirmed that he will not be in the Royal Rumble match, Bo Dallas is expected to return and Diamond Dallas Page is still rumored to appear. Now, PWInsider reports that two more very interesting former WWE/TNA multi-time Tag Team Champions are in talks with the WWE to appear at the event this Sunday on the WWE Network.

The Dudley Boyz aka “Bubba Ray and Devon Dudley” are not in contract with TNA anymore and the WWE has reached out to them to at least appear for a night. Bubba Ray and Devon found new life in the TNA where they both enjoyed successful single runs in the company.

Bubba Ray (known as Bully Ray) competed for and captured the TNA Heavyweight Gold on more than one occasion. He was the face of the organization for a period of time and married Brooke Hogan much to the dismay of Hulk Hogan. Bubba Ray then turned heel and joined his on-screen brother Devon in the biker-like bad boy faction of Aces and 8’s.

Bubba and Devon then went on a quest to put TNA Wrestling president Dixie Carter through a table and finally got their wish in the ECW former hometown of Philadelphia, PA. This is also the place that this year’s Royal Rumble will be held, which plays into the reasoning why the WWE wants them in the Rumble so badly.

Bubba and Devon’s final stint with the TNA was a memorable one as the pair went up against former WWE nemeses The Hardy Boys and a youngblood tag-team of up-and-comers known as the Wolves. The three teams competed in a Tables match, a Ladders match and finally a straight up match.

In the end, The Dudley Boyz failed to capture the TNA Tag-Team gold for a final time and were subsequently released. However, their legacy lies in their work in ECW and WWE where they coined the phrase that would change tag-team wrestling forever, “Get the Tables!” This gesture always brought crowds to their feet.

The Dudley’s were always well versed in Triple Threat tag matches and the WWE had arguably one of the greatest versions of that style of match there is. A triple threat Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at WrestleMania 18. That match saw more spots than a dalmation and is considered on every “Greatest matches of all time at a WrestleMania” list.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
