WWE SmackDown was taped in Baton Rouge, Louisiana last night and had major shoes to fill following an impressive Monday Night Raw.

Jerry Lawler, Byron Saxton and Michael Cole are on commentary. Lawler got a big pop.

Byron Saxton interviewed Daniel Bryan in the ring.

The night’s first match was the return to in-ring competition for Daniel Bryan and he defeated Kane by DQ when Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble hit the ring. Big Show and Seth Rollins went in to attack Bryan but he retreated. Roman Reigns then came out and stood next to Bryan for a face off with the heels. Triple H came down and announced a six-man main event for later. The match would have Bryan, Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. Kane, Rollins and The Big Show.

Damien Mizdow and The Miz with Alicia Fox defeated Naomi and The Usos. Sandow got a pop almost as big as Bryan, which is one of the many reasons why the WWE is so high on him currently. The rumors back stage are that the team will split up shortly but they will both be heavily pushed in singles competition.

Paul Heyman comes out. Heyman talks about what happened on RAW and Seth Rollins comes out to confront him. Both Paul and Seth exchanged a great back and forth of words on Raw that many found elegant and entertaining. Rollins proved he could duel on the mic with anybody in the company. Rollins is heated in this case and wants to cash in on Brock Lesnar tonight, but he’s not there (as always). Heyman cut an awesome promo and the two teased working together after the Royal Rumble. I can’t seem to find anyone who wouldn’t enjoy that, but does that mean that Lesnar won’t have the WWE World Heavyweight Championship going into Wrestlemania 31?

Natalya defeated Nikki Bella in a non-title match.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett retained his title over Sin Cara in what was a very fun match.

Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns defeated Kane, Big Show and Seth Rollins in what many felt was a really good main event. The babyfaces all got big pops and everyone worked hard. SmackDown ended the event with the faces celebrating in the ring.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
