Pat “HD” Barry (16-6-1, 10 KO’s) will make his second heavyweight appearance in Glory against Mourad “The Silent Power” Bouzidi (76-22-2, 34 KO’s) in Glory 20: Dubai. Their contest will be the co-headline fight of the event on Friday, April 3rd at the Dubai World Trade Center in the United Arab Emirates.

Pat Barry is best known for his MMA career in the UFC, but “HD” got his start in combat sports studying under “Mr. Perfect” Ernesto Hoost. Following Barry’s KO loss to Soa Paleli in Fight Night 33, he was subsequently released from the UFC. After the release, he defeated Ed Burris in Combat Sports Challenge 39 before going on to face Zack Mwekassa. Pat Barry got anything but a welcome homecoming back to his kickboxing competition roots after the initial victory. At Glory 16, Zack “Black Warrior” Mwekassa knocked Barry out in the first round of the light heavyweight contender tournament in devastating fashion.

The win is high stakes for both opponents heading into Dubai. Bouzidi has gone 3-4 in Glory, with a most notable win credited by TKO (injury) over coach/training partner Peter Aerts. Most recently, Bouzidi snapped a 2-fight losing streak in Glory 15 with a decision win over Randy Blake. On the stakes of the match, Glory Matchmaker Cor Hemmers remarks:

“We are pleased to confirm this fight today. It matches two guys who are big fan favorites – they have a lot of power and they are always looking for the knockout when they fight, but they are also two of the nicest guys in the sport,”

“They both have something of a veteran status and they have had a lot of experience in the highs and lows of the fight game. Right now I think that they both feel like they want to prove a point about where they are in their careers and I think that will make for a heated fight and a well-matched contest.”
