WWE Smackdown Makes Two Official Matches

(Daniel Bryan lands a low kick to the grounded Kane)

A very interesting episode of Raw last night that saw The Authority get the last laugh in the close of the show. Their chosen boy, “Mr. Money in the Bank” Seth Rollins, curb stomped John Cena after Cena put WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar through a table. He then looked back and curb stomped the champion Lesnar all to the delight of the Authority.

But will the Authority be laughing on Thursday? Two matches have been made official that feature two members of the Authority. Their “Chief of Operations” Kane will welcome Daniel Bryan back to in-ring action and “Bad News” Barrett will defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Sin Cara.

Barrett isn’t officially apart of The Authority, but helps them out on frequent occasions and they more often than not return the favor. For instance, when Barrett first won the WWE Intercontinental title from Dolph Ziggler in an impromptu 2-out-of-3 falls match, it was “The Chief of Operations” Kane that made the change from a standard match after Ziggler had already won.

Barrett went on to lose to Sin Cara in a non-title affair, then went wild on the lucha-based wrestler and prompted a rematch for the strap on Smackdown.

Kane will take on Bryan, which is interesting because both have a long history together. Kane and Bryan made up “Team Hell No” where they won the tag team titles but still acted as though they hated each other. Their conflict even ended up prompting a couples therapist to intervene in a storyline. However, when The Authority came to power, Kane showed his true colors and joined them. This made Bryan’s life a literal hell in the process from interfering on Daniel’s opponents’ behalves or physically dismantling Bryan altogether.

Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Title in the main event of WrestleMania 30 in a triple threat match against Randy Orton and Batista. However, the night after on Raw, his celebration was cut short when Kane came out and tombstoned Bryan multiple times. Kane performed the maneuver in the ring, then on steel steps and on the floor of the arena.

The pair were matched up in the main event of Extreme Rules last year for Bryan’s belt. In an absolute brutal affair, Bryan retained his title but had to give it up because of injuries sustained at Smackdown. It will be the first time he has wrestled since.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
