WWE Raw Results Dec. 29

December 29th’s WWE Raw saw a return of former tag champions, the crowning of new tag champions, 3 stellar matches, the rise of a young tag team and the return of an old faction. Wrestlingnewssource.com helped transcribe the events of December 29th here:

Edge and Christian came out to start the show. Edge proposed that they do a Cutting Edge Peep Show with the first guest being the self-proclaimed future of the WWE, Seth Rollins. Edge then made a match with Seth Rollins taking on Roman Reigns. Christian followed suit and booked Rusev vs Dolph Ziggler. Christian then asked the audience who would like to see Daniel Bryan, but was boo’d. Edge and Christian did their 5 second pose, but were interrupted by Brock Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman. Heyman said he can’t help but wonder why a man with a broken neck who can never wrestle again and a man with too many concussions would swim in a tank with a shark like the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Heyman dared them to make a move. Heyman said Lesnar has no desire to end their careers and called him a conqueror who would rather break John Cena’s neck. Cena came out and said the only reason he doesn’t knock Lesnar into 2015 is so Lesnar can’t limp into the Royal Rumble with an excuse. Cena said he had a gift for Heyman and went for an AA, but Lesnar stepped in.

Post Match: Ryback ran out and delivered the Meat Hook clothesline as the crowd started chanting “Feed Me More!”

Ryback took the mic, saying there seems to be a misunderstanding between him and the WWE Universe. He gave a history lesson about who he is, what he’s about and delivered a message to Rusev that it’s not a Russia vs. U.S. thing, its about one big guy kicking another big guy’s a** thing.

Nikki Bella vs Natalya

Nikki dominated the match as Tyson Kidd created interference on the outside. It backfired as Brie got in Tyson’s face and Nikki delivered the rack attack to Natalya.

The winner of the match: Nikki Bella

Backstage: Miz and Mizdow were talking as Naomi ran in and hugged Miz, telling him about the big break she just got from the producer. She knows Miz has taken a lot of crap lately, especially from Jimmy and wished him good luck in his title match.

Cesaro sat in the corner of the ring with a mic and said 2014 should have been his year after winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. He stood up and said WWE decision-makers say he doesn’t connect. He said he delivers every time he’s in the ring, claiming he doesn’t care about pageantry, fancy entrances or connecting. He issued an open challenge.

Bad News Barrett made his entrance to cheers. “It’s me, it’s me, it’s BNB,” Barrett said in Dallas Page style. He said he would connect with a Bull Hammer elbow to the head of Cesaro.

Bad News Barrett vs. Cesaro

Barrett cleared Cesaro from the ring and played to the crowd. Cesaro caught Barrett with a German suplex and a clothesline. Later, Cesaro performed the swing for a favorable reaction. Barrett reached the ropes, caught Cesaro with a shot and then followed up with the Bull Hammer for the win.

The winner of the match: Bad News Barrett

Luke Harper vs Jack Swagger

Swagger caught Harper with a clothesline. Harper came back with a dropkick for a two count. Swagger backdropped Harper to the floor and clotheslined him heading into the break.

Reigns was back to black and silver colors this week. Show spoke about Rollins being the future of WWE. Cole agreed, then Lawler jumped in and asked if Cole was sucking up to Show. At 5:30, Reigns hit a running kick, then Rollins knocked a distracted Reigns off the apron heading into the break. Rollins applied a chin lock. Show sold the hold on commentary by saying “big guy can’t breathe, big guy can’t get up.” Reigns hit some signature spots late and the crowd was responsive more often than not. Rollins came back with a couple of near-falls. Rollins went for his finisher, but Reigns avoided it. He eventually hit the Superman punch. He set up in the corner for a spear, but Show attacked him for the DQ. Show threw Reigns over the broadcast table and then knocked the broadcast table on top of him. Reigns was selling the injury as Cole said he could be seriously hurt going into the break.

Daniel Bryan came out for his announcement and reflected on his career, deciding wether or not his career is over. He then said that’s not the announcement he’s ready to make, he is ready to fight and is ready to compete in the 2015 Royal Rumble.

Backstage: Miz and Mizdow walked in on Edge and Christian playing their kazoos and demand a rematch for the titles. They get a match, but its not for the title and its not against the Usos.

Edge and Christian stood in the ring for the Cutting Edge Peep Show. After some witty exchanges at the expense of Rollins, they called him to the ring. Rollins made his entrance with J&J. Rollins said, “Do we sit on the stools? Let’s take a seat and enjoy, boys. Great night, huh?” Christian and Edge asked why he’s so chipper. He said they were heroes to him growing up, so he’s honored to be the first-ever guest on the Cutting Edge Peep Show. He said if not for them, he might not be in the ring today. “You are heroes of mine,” he said. Edge said he appreciated it, but he doesn’t necessarily believe it. Rollins said they’re way too cynical, saying it’s a time for reflection at the end of the year. He asked whose had a better year than him? Claiming to have engineered the rise of The Shield, masterminded the destruction of The Shield, he won Money in the Bank, he became the new standard-bearer of WWE and is now worldly recognized as the absolute Future of Sports Entertainment. Rollins rhetorically asked who has had a better year. Edge suggested Cena and Christian said Ziggler. Then Sting, Bryan, and Slick had better years. Rollins said he didn’t come out there to reflect on his accomplishments, he wanted to reflect on the past month and how difficult it has been for him since Survivor Series. Rollins said he’s been a party pooper. “I don’t want to be that guy anymore. 2015, that Seth Rollins is gone,” Seth said.

Rollins called out someone who also sees the value in personal evaluation at the end of the year – The Big Show. Show came out with a big smile. Rollins then asked Cena to come out because he helped him realize the error of his ways. Cena didn’t come out. His music didn’t play, either. Rollins said he wanted something from him. “So get out here, John. Get out here, John!” he said. Rollins got serious and angry and said he is forcing his hand. He then whacked Christian with the Money in the Bank briefcase in the gut. Edge stepped up to defend him, but he was soon surrounded by Rollins, Show, Mercury, and Noble. Show grabbed Edge by his neck and shoved him face-first onto the briefcase. Rollins called Cena out again. “If you’re half the man you say you are, you’ll come out here and stop me from paralyzing him.” Cena ran out, without music (!!!). Rollins told him to freeze at ringside. “Not another move,” he said. Rollins insisted he give him what he wants or he will break Edge’s neck. Rollins told Cena not to take the chance if he cares about Edge as much as he says he does. Cena came out and Rollins demanded that Cena bring The Authority back and Cena did so reluctantly. Rollins went to curb stomp Edge, but Cena made the save and Raw went off the air with The Authority celebrating.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
