German artist, photographer, and designer Karl Lagerfeld has designed a “Punching Trunk” for a fall/winter collection of the famous French Label Luis Vuitton. This might be the classiest fighting gear you could ever hope to acquire on your quest for boxing glory.
So what’s included in the “Punching Trunk”? Here’s what Luis Vuitton has to say:
“Karl Lagerfeld possesses an unerring knack for capturing the air du temps and distilling it into objects of desire. In celebration of Vuitton’s iconic Monogram canvas, the master imagined an extravagant set of luggage and accessories for devotees of the “sweet science.” His Boxing Trunk is fitted with a signature punching bag and stand, while a separate suitcase, also in Monogram, holds boxing gloves and a mat. With its capacious interior and removable shelving, the trunk can also serve as a chic travel closet. Heritage details – leather corners, tags, embossing – combine with vintage cowhide trim and aged brass hardware for an exceptional collector’s piece that is both timeless and of-the-moment.”
This isn’t the first time the famous French Brand has dabbled in the boxing world. In 2012, Luis Vuitton made a tribute to Muhammed Ali with a video featuring Mos Def and used shots of Ali with his grandson as part of their Core Values Campaign.
If you’re already sold on the collection, you’d best make an offer soon. The “Punching Trunk” and accessories are only part of a limited 25 in the collection. Then, there’s the inevitable question that everyone on everyone’s mind. Luis Vuitton’s website lists a “Price upon request,” but fightland.vice.com reports that you can own your very own monogrammed Luis Vuitton “punching trunk” for a sum total of $175,000. However, the gloves must be purchased separately for an additional $6,000.
