Former UFC vet and current Titan Fighting Championship star, Walel “The Gazelle” Watson (12-7) has cemented himself as a fan-favorite staple in the bantamweight division of TFC. Watson has never let a fight where he was on the winning end reach the final bell.
In his last outing at Titan 28 he dispatched of William Joplin via rear naked choke just mere minutes before the fight would’ve reached the scorecards. However Walel was conscious of the time and took Joplin out before leaving a fight in the judges hands.
“My last win was amazing.” says Watson. “We had a great battle and it was a back and forth war. To get the finish and have my hand raised was the cherry on top. I would’ve won rounds 1 and 3, in the 2nd I was attacking for submissions the entire time. If there was a fighter judging the fight I would have won that round as well. I was attacking and looking for subs but you can never leave the fight to the judges which is why I finished.”
Watson will now face Anthony “Sharkbait” Gutierrez (5-0) tonight in the co-main event of Titan FC 30. Anthony has had all his fights under the Titan banner but The Gazelle feels he will leap past his opposition en route to having his hand raised on the biggest stage of his career.
“It’s an honor to be in the co-main event. this is part of why you fight and perform, to have people that want to come see you and have all eyes on you. I’m going to smash Gutierrez, I tried to show him respect, but he runs his mouth. He can talk the talk but I can walk the walk and I’m going to show him what high level MMA is.”
Walel promises to take Sharkbait out of the shallow end of the pool. There the Gazelle feels like he will expose Anthony and finish him.
“My experience and my heart will be my advantages. He’s never been pushed to the limit or out of the first round. I’m taking him out of his comfort zone and I’m going to grind on him for 15 minutes. The fight will end with the Gazelle having his hand raised after he’s choked or knocked out. It’ll be up to him how he wants to go out in front of everybody.”
If one is to get a finish in Titan FC, Promoter and CEO Jeff Aronson provides the fighter with a hefty bonus check to further illustrate the #FansFightersFirst mentality of the corporation. Walel promises to finish and already has plans for his bonus cash.
“I plan on getting the Iphone 6 for sure.”
