Nate Diaz will make his UFC return against Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC on Fox 13. UFC officials confirmed today that the lightweight matchup will serve as the co-main event of the December 13th card. After a year out of the organization, the two parties have ended a contract dispute to put Diaz back in the mix of the lightweight division.
Nate Diaz (17-9) broke a two-fight losing streak with a KO win over Gray Maynard back in November of 2013. Last month, UFC president Dana White stated that he and Diaz discussed the contract dispute after the TUF 20 finale: “You know, we were out having fun, we talked business for a little while. We got together in a room, and where he is and where we are, we’re not even close. He’s just got something in his head and we’ve got something else in our head.”
Now that the UFC and Nate Diaz have made amends, he has to prepare quickly for the power of Rafael Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos has taken 7 of his last 8 fights with a huge KO victory against former lightweight champion Benson Henderson. If Nate is planning on making a long term run in the UFC, he has to prove his worth by stopping the #3 lightweight in the hottest run of his MMA career. This fight represents a huge opportunity for both fighters to advance in the lightweight division. Both fighters boast a very well-rounded record, deadly when it comes to submissions while also packing KO punch potential. Watch the two Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Black Belts battle it out live on Fox on December 13th.
