Weigh-ins have been completed from Mohegan Sun Arena for Bellator 123 on Friday September 5th. All 26 competing athletes made weight on their first attempt at the scale in Uncasville, Connecticut. Pat “Paddy Mike” Curran will face Patricio “Pitbull” Freire in the main event for the featherweight world title. This will be the second time Pitbull has had a shot at the title since his decision loss in Bellator 85, and he won’t be looking for a judges’ decision to settle his score again.

“Conquer the World Title is the dream of my life,” he said. “It means get to the pinnacle of a fighter and with that write my name in history.”

Pitbull’s had won a solid string of four victories and adding Pat Curran to the list would only make a title win sweeter. If Pat Curran plays his cards right, he’ll be able to outbox Friere like he did in his last title defense. He has to be ready for Pitbull to come out guns blazing if he wants to stay on top of the featherweight division.

Bellator 123’s main card features the return of King Mo against Dustin Jacoby. Though King Mo’s had his qualms about Bellator and former CEO Bjorn Rebney in the past, all that appears to have changed under the new direction of Scott Coker. King Mo desperately needs a victory after his last devastating decision loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. However, Jacoby would love nothing more than the opportunity to dethrone a name like King Mo to make his debut splash in Bellator MMA.

Cheick Kongo vs. Lavar Johnson will be a strong heavyweight showdown. Cheick Kongo has fought tooth and nail to make his way back to title contention since losing to titleholder Vitaly Minakov, and he stands a chance of making a serious run again with a victory. If Kongo can keep the fight to the center of the cage, be patient on his striking and not gas out quick in the fight, he stands a strong change of victory against Johnson.

Former Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley will make his Bellator debut against against Josh Burns at the heavyweight division. Lashley has earned a three-fight winning streak across the XFL, TFC and several other organizations leading up to the fight. He’s been a part of the WWE and TNA Wrestling in the past, and is set to come back back to MMA in a big way tomorrow.
