Conor Mcgregor on Dustin Poirier; “I’ll Put Him Away in One Round.”

Conor Mcgregor (15-2) is supposedly the next biggest thing in MMA since the implementation of “no groin strikes.”

Everybody is riding his hype train and with his self promotion and salesmanship of well….himself, why not drink the Kool-aid?

His next fight will be at UFC 178 on September 27th in Las Vegas and “Notorious” sat down with UFC Tonight to discuss his thoughts on his bout with Dustin Poirier (16-3).

“For me it’s all these little featherweights who are crying like girls,” said McGregor.

‘Why is he getting the headliner in his hometown? Why is he getting on the best card of the year?’

“For me, I’m in shape 24/7, 365 days a year, and I show up for fights. I don’t freeze, I come forward and I put people away. I know myself and they know who the new king is. There’s a new king in town.”

The Irishman then calls the man from Lafayette, Louisiana a “hillbilly”

“I have nothing against him,” he said. “He’s a nice, humble hillbilly kid from a back town, but I have nothing against the guy. He has nothing for me. Coming against me, it’s not going to be a good night for him.

Conor then discussed how he planned on re-arranging Dustin’s face.

“When he wakes up with his nose plastered on the other side of his face, he’ll realize this is the next level guy. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what they think.”

Then he gave a prediction on how and when the fight will end.

“It’s on to Vegas, Dustin Poirier and I’ll put him away in one round and move on the crusade of eliminating this whole featherweight division one-by-one.”

This bout will be a feature fight between the two talented top 10 featherweights with Dustin coming in at 6 and Conor weighing in at 9.

UFC 178 will be headlined by Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson defending his UFC Flyweight Strap against Chris Cariaso.

Aaron Portier
Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
