“Let’s See if You’ve Got Some Balls, Kid.” Luke Rockhold Issues Outlandish Challenge to Michael Bisping

#5 ranked UFC Middleweight, Luke Rockhold (12-2) has a bone to pick with the 8th ranked outspoken Brit and fellow UFC Middlweight Michael “The Count” Bisping (24-6).

Bisping will headline this weekend’s UFC Fight Night Macao card alongside Cung Le and Luke Rockhold is reportedly to be in the works to fight Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida next.

But that didn’t stop Luke from calling Bisping out in a recent interview with John Morgan.

“I’ve got a wager.”

“Bisping is grossly overpaid, comparably to where we are. So, I bet Michael Bisping, if I don’t finish you in the first round, you can have my purse. But if I do finish you in the first round, you give me your purse. So if I don’t finish you in the first round, whether I beat you in a decision or what, you get both of our purses. But if I do finish you in the first round, we switch purses, and I get yours.”

Pretty bold statement from the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, but in his last two outings he thoroughly dominated and finished Costas Philippou and Tim Boetsch both before the 3rd minute of the first round could begin.

However Luke could be onto something because when Bisping defeated Jason “Mayhem” Miller at the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale back in 2011, “The Count” walked away with a crisp, cool $425,000.

Whereas when Rockhold beat the brakes off of Philippou and turned his body into an accordion he only trotted away with $80,000.

Around 1/5 of what Michael made, when Luke had an arguably more dominating performance as most believed “Mayhem” Miller had ill prepared or was simply off his rocker when he stepped into the cage with Bisping.

Luke went on to question Bisping’s manhood.

“Let’s see if you’ve got some balls, kid. Bring it.”

Then he re-issues the challenge.

“Bisping, he’s a s–- talker, and we’ve had our beef for a long time. He said he had gotten the better of me in our training session. Let’s see about that. Put your money where your mouth is, kid.”

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
