“Every Option is Open” For a Bellator / Glory Night

Newly appointed appointed Glory CEO Jon Franklin has stated that “Every option is open” for a Bellator/Glory combination night.

“We would certainly listen to Spike as a partner on ideas on doing shows on the same night and having massive combat evenings. The door is open and all ideas and thoughts are on the table. That’s pretty exciting because I think with Scott and with Spike, you have a team that is really open to anything to create incredible evenings and incredible packages.”

Franklin expects Glory 18 to take place in late October and the organization has been working hard to finalize a TV date and location.

“We have been through most of the big cities, and we might give the chance to some of the smaller cities, to see GLORY live. We have been to Madison Square Garden, we’ve been to Denver, we’ve been to a few different stops in L.A., so we might try to move it around a bit more so we can take the road show to our fans all over the country.”

If you’ve been itching for Glory’s return since June’s “Last Man Standing”, the prospect of an MMA/Kickboxing night in late October just booked your Halloween party. The idea has great potential for all parties involved. A night of combined combat sports would mark a historical day for martial arts and be an extreme benefit to their respective organizations. Bellator fans would be exposed to Glory, international Glory fans will be exposed to Bellator, and because they’re both in contract with Spike TV, Viacom would be buying a round of drinks for everybody.

Both Coker and Franklin would really come into their own as fresh CEO’s with a bold move like this. If Franklin is strongly considering booking Glory 18 in a smaller city than Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles as the organization has in the past, a quick look at Bellator’s schedule for late October offers some great options. Bellator 129 is scheduled for October 17th at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bellator 130 is set for October 24th in Mulvane, Kansas at the Kansas Star Arena.

The prospect sounds like an absoltue win-win and a perfect opportunity for everyone. Keep your fingers crossed for a match made in heaven.
