Mark Hunt (9-8-1) had entered the media spotlight recently for a certain tweet which many thought indicated that himself and the UFC had parted ways.

•Well I’m unemployed that sucks
•Not my choice guys but going from being exited at the prospects of the future of fighting to being unemployed in a day lol this sucks

A lot of shadiness in that social media output but in a recent interview with The New Zealand Sunday Star, Mark attributed the weird tweet to a lack of carbs and that he in fact was not released.

“Hunt wanted a three-fight contract, UFC wanted eight; they settled on six after an ominous Hunt tweet about becoming unemployed caused a brief kerfuffle.

He doesn’t want to talk about the wrangling, beyond admitting his wife talked him around. “She brought me back to reality. I didn’t make an emotional decision, I made a decision based on business. I nearly made the biggest mistake of my life. I could have never fought again. I am glad things worked out and I am glad to have UFC as my employers.”

As of now Mark has no problems with his employment, a man who has recently found problems with his opponent this Saturday when the UFC visits Macau is outspoken Brit Michael Bisping (24-6).

He will take on Cung Le (9-2) in the main event this weekend and feels the San Jose native is a phony.

“Cung Le is a bit of a phony. I went to Macao for the launch press conference with Cung Le in June, and I was very polite, very professional. I exchanged all the pleasantries, gave him all the small talk as you are supposed to in these situations and I even went as far as pretending to be absolutely blown away that he’s apparently friends with Channing Tatum,” Bisping said. “Basically, I went out of my way to be nice to him and everything was very civil. We promoted the fight, shook hands, and went back home to train for the fight.

“Then I see him on UFC.com doing a Fight Club Q and A and he’s talking a load of bollocks about me. Basically, he’s jumped on the same old, boring bandwagon everyone else who fights me does with is to say what a smack-talker I am while, as always, they are the ones who talk crap first. What a phony. … One fan at the Q and A asked him what his game plan was and he said “Flying tornado kicks and thunder and lightning!” What does he think we are going to be doing in the Venetian Macao? Playing Tekken 4? It was another cheesy, embarrassing line from a cheesy, embarrassing actor.”

Spices up the next UFC event a bit I’d say.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
