Latest on Alberto Del Rio; TNA Showing Major Interest in Former WWE Champion

Since Alberto Del Rio finished “The Slap Heard Only By WWE Execs” his wrestling career has been finished.

With the WWE that is.

TNA has been on the prowl trying to get in touch with the “Mexico’s Greatest Import” and as soon as his contract was terminated with the WWE, TNA has shown that they are more than eager in providing him with a new one.

Now WNS.com is reporting that the word back stage just got incredibly more lucrative for the lavish lifestyle living latino.

The word backstage in TNA is that if Alberto Del Rio was to sign with them then he’d be pushed straight to the top and more than likely given an immediate title shot.

The current champion for the organization is Bobby Lashley who took it off of the waist of Eric Young who was seemingly TNA’s answer to the WWE’s Daniel Bryan.

Lashley is a former MMA fighter as was Alberto Del Rio.

Most remember Del Rio performing as Dos Caras Jr. who dawned a luchadore mask that was virtually kicked off when he face Mirko Cro Cop in the old school Pride Fighting Championship days.

Del Rio’s character was getting somewhat stale on the WWE stage anyway but a re-birth as a top heel in a different organization could prove prosperous as that’s when he did his best work as champion in World Wrestling Entertainment.

It’s also worth mentioning that Del Rio was the only man ever to win a Royal Rumble (one of WWE’s biggest pay-per-views of the year, which is an over the top rope battle royal) that consisted of 40 people and not the standard 30.

It makes sense that Alberto Del Rio would be pushed straight to the top because TNA knows how to treat their latest high profile acquisitions and they normally involve them immediately into heavy story lines.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
