All that drama, and we’ll have to wait until January to see the grudge match.
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones tore his meniscus and sprained his ankle and had to pull out of his fight with No. 1 light heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier.
The fight has been moved from Sept. 27 to Jan. 3.
Jones and Cormier engaged in public scuffle at a media event last week, building interest in the fight. Cormier, a transplant from Strikeforce, is undefeated at dropped down from the heavyweight division to challenge Jones for the title.
Jones has obliterated the UFC’s light heavyweight division with the exception of a controversial decision victory over Alexander Gustafsson last year.
It’s unclear if Cormier will take a tune-up fight in the interim or if he will hold off until the Jones fight.
