Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to Welcome Eddie Alvarez to UFC? Titan FC Signs 2 Japanese Mega Stars

Has the time finally come for Eddie Alvarez (25-3) to make his way to the famed Octagon?

Sources close to Sherdog.com seem to think so, but Ariel Helwani tweeted out that Eddie is kind of in limbo and that more than likely he’s been granted his release from Bellator, where he’s the current Lightweight Champion, but the promotion doesn’t want to leak out the information just yet.

Further speculation has been gathered that “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone (24-6) will be the one escorting Eddie into his UFC debut and the date has been reportedly negotiated that the bout will take place on the UFC 178 card.

Yes, the same card that has Jones vs Cormier for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, Romero vs Kennedy, Cat Zigano vs Amanda Nunes for a possible chance to fight Ronda Rousey. Dominick Cruz is set to make his return on that card against Takeya Mizugaki and Dustin Poirier will take on Conor Mcgregor.

UFC 178 already speaks for itself and if this bout comes to fruition it could reach a whole “notha” level.

Eddie is riding a 3 fight winning streak and most recently defeated Michael Chandler via split-decision in a rematch at Bellator 106. Chandler won the first fight by way of 4th round rear naked choke at Bellator 58.

Alvarez is the current Bellator Lightweight Champion but Cerrone could possibly the UFC’s most exciting Lightweight fighter.

In 14 of his 24 bouts under the Zuffa banner, Donald has taken home a post-fight bonus award.

Titan FC now puts the Japanese #FansFightersFirst to the test as they’ve signed Akihiro Gono (34-19-8) and Yoshiyuki Yoshida (17-6).

Gono is a veteran of 9 Pride fights and has been fighting since 1994, he’s legitimately had a fight in every major Japanese Promotion and he’s taken out Hector Lombard and Gegard Mousasi, both of which are ranked UFC fighters.

Yoshida is riding a 6 fight winning streak and has already been through Bellator and the UFC where he defeated War Machine and Brandon Wolff.
