Daniel Cormier isn’t missing a beat with the news of an eye injury sustained by the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, released today by Jon Jones himself none the less.

In a story published earlier today we shared the Instagram video Jon Jones posted of his most recent eye injury.  While we speculated the cut might have been a potential hinderance during the fight Cormier isn’t wasting any time in capitalizing on the opportunity.

Based on his most recent posting to Instagram, a response to the post Jon Jones made earlier today, the contender is making it very clear he plans to target that wound during the entire fight.

In an Instagram post by Daniel Cormier earlier today, the contender described what he plans to do now that he’s aware of his injury and went on to warn Jones that some things are “best kept private.”

In his own words from Instagram,

September 27th I’m gonna put so many of these on ur face @jonnybones. I can’t wait everyday I’m dreaming and thinking of you. And I’m gonna take u down and grind my elbow into that cut you got today. Put a bullseye on that thing. Some things should remain private. DC”

It remains to be seen just how quickly Jones will recover from his injury and whether it will indeed pose a threat to him during his upcoming bout with Daniel Cormier at UFC 178.  However, one thing is for certain, the contender makes a good point to warn the defending champion that somethings indeed are best kept secret.

Who do you have your money on?  Will Cormier make good on his promise and take the title from the reigning champion or is this just another publicity stunt by the contender to grab some headlines before the fight?
