135lb Bantamweight Bout; Ray Rodriguez (5-2) vs Steven Peterson (10-4)

Round 1: Ray comes in and lands a double jab and Steven fails a take down attempt but presses Ray against the fence. Steven gets a slight take down but Ray gets back to his feet fast and Ray tries to fall back for a guillotine but fails and Steven goes to work in the guard, then he transitions to side control but Ray reverses to set himself up in side control and the first round comes to an end.

Round 2: Ray lands two body kicks ad Steven takes him down but again Ray pops right back up like a jack in the box, but Peterson presses him against the cage. Steven again takes Ray down and controls side mount and lands his light punches then goes back to guard and then half guard before the round ends in the same position.

Round 3: Round 3 sees much of the same action, a lot of light work on the ground. Ray at first lets his hands go and lands rights and lefts much to the enjoyment of the sleepy crowd but as soon as the crowd stands to their feet, Steven takes Ray down. He gets side mount and then takes Ray’s back then side control again then lands some elbows and remains on top until the round and fight ends.

Official Decision: Steven Peterson def. Ray Rodriguez via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
