Matt Secor: You Can Expect Fireworks This Saturday

Matthew Secor, hails from upstate New York and will be facing Lyman Good (15-3) in the Cage Furry Fighting Championship Cage on June 21st 2014 in Morristown, NJ. With a 4-1 professional record going against an obviously more experienced fighter and former Bellator welterweight champion, we wanted to get his thoughts on his upcoming fight and his future fight career.

Scifighting: Did you change your Training camp at all for this fight?
Secor: oh yeah, I went down to Philadelphia for this camp, tough bunch of dudes down there. My diet is different this fight, I have a nutritionist Mark Bertran . That’s probably the biggest thing is my diet, I probably won’t sit in the sauna one second this camp.

Scifighting: What do you think about you opponent for this main event fight?
Secor: Lyman Good is an animal, he is one of the top 170lbers in our area he’s an ex Bellator champ. I mean there is nothing bad to say about the guy. Stand up dude; you know he fights how he fights I fight how I fight. I think he does things that compliment my style of fighting and I think it’s going to be awesome. I think we are going to shock the world.

Scifighting: So what’s the game plan this fight?
Secor: You know the game plan is simple he wants it standing and I want it on the ground. I don’t really think he can hit me, I know just off my jujitsu alone I can survive, Bare essentials. I think this is a very bad stylistic fight for him. I am going to come out with the win and I am going to shock a lot of people because I’m an underdog but, being an underdog is an advantage sometimes.

Scifighting: Speaking of being an underdog does that motivate you?
Secor: It motivates me but not to the point where it’s the only thing.I always have something to prove, I think you always have to have something to prove it just makes sense. Some people say “ I don’t have anything to prove” you always should have something to prove. Those who have something to prove will always get that extra inch to win. Fighting that extra inch, I think that is what this fight is going to be about. It’s going to come to that extra inch.

“I think this is going to be a war and a great test for me.”

I don’t care what anyone has to say about me being an underdog, because it’s only an opinion.

Scifighting: Any other comments or anything you want to mention?
Secor: Shout out to Mark Bertrum my nutritionist. Eddie Fyvie if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be where I am today. He’s like a brother a mentor a teammate a coach, one of the best people in my life.

Underdog or not Secor is looking for a big finish in the cage, telling us to expect “fireworks” on Saturday. A win, will in fact, be a game changer for him. He hopes that a win will land him in the UFC stating ,“Hopefully after this fight I’ll be in the UFC, that’s what I am trying for him a win over him will be very big”.
