UFC Newest Sponsor of the Youth MMA Portion of the Liberty Games in New York State


While Professional Mixed Martial Arts is still Illegal in New York State, that does not hinder the passion for the sport among New Yorker’s. The Liberty Games is one way in which practitioners of the sport are able to involve youth in regulated competition. The Liberty games have a total of 15 events that will take place between July 11th-20th, and will be held in several locations surrounding Capital region of New York State.

Last year was the introduction of the MMA portion of the youth Liberty games. It quickly became the highpoint for the new state games.

Youth athletes from across the state showed their discipline and technical ability in three sections of the sport.

Liberty Games

This year the games have grown in recognition and it was announced that the UFC is now sponsoring the Youth MMA portion of the Liberty Games.

The UFC has been involved in the lobbying of legalization in the state of New York and believes that regulation of amateur event is an important aspect of the sport. It is an exciting sponsorship for the Liberty Games that the largest promotion in the sport is recognizing the youth elite in New York.

Autumn’s interest in Martial Arts began in her early teens through her father and brother. They trained together for several years. During those years she was also active in Sports. Autumn took a break from Martial Arts and athletics to pursue her education. She completed her Undergraduate Degree at Oneonta State College in Sociology with a concentration in Pre-professional Human Services. She then studied Social Sciences at Binghamton University receiving her Masters in Social Science in 2009. Her passion lies in Gender equality for sports and facets of Mixed Martial Arts. She currently works as a Criminal Justice Professional. Writing is a passion of hers and she enjoys engaging with people of various backgrounds to gain an understanding of different perspectives in the world of MMA.
