Bellator 118 Preliminary Card Results

Bellator 118 is upon us and before the Interim Bantamweight Title can be decided the prelims will provide enough action to keep you at bay.

Due to technical difficulties the first four fights weren’t able to be updated round by round but the results remain.

Official Result: Featherweights; Kevin Roddy defeated Amran Aliyev by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Official Result: Lightweights; Sidney Outlaw defeated Mike Bannon by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Official Result: Featherweights; Lester Caslow defeated Jay Haas via submission (gulliotine choke) at 2:29 of Round 1

Official Result: Featherweights; Darrion Caldwell defeated Joe Pingitore via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:39 of Round 1


Eugene Fadiora (13-1) vs. Tim Woods (6-4)
Round 1: Tim misses a leg kick and Eugene rushes him into the fence, and Fadiora pushes him more against the cage. Eugene switches levels and works for a takedown, Tim lands a left but eats a knee to the body. The referee seperates the two and Eugene lands a leg kick and Tim answers with one of his own then lands a right thigh kick. Woods lands yet another right thigh kick but can’t connect on any punches, Tim lands a nice left hand then a nice kick to the body but is wrestled to the fence by Fadiora. Woods turns Eugene around and power takes him down with 30 ticks left on the clock, they stay in that position till the end of the round

Round 2: Woods lands a leg kick but is muscled to the fence fast and taken down, but Tim is right back up. They stay on the fence but work their way off, Eugene attempts to lead with a jab, another jab barely lands. Tim lands a nice over hand right in a round half way over with very light action. Eugene lands a nice left and backs off, Woods lands another left leg kick  then a right leg kick that Fadiora has no answer for and isn’t checking. Eugene muscles Tim to the cage again and lands a knee but Woods takes Eugene down and the round ends

Round 3: Woods goes back to his bread and butter leg kicks, Tim throws a triple jab and a hard leg kick that is caught but Woods spins out. Eugene again presses Woods against the cage but doesn’t go for anything, Tim lands a hard left leg kick and then a right leg kick with no answer. Another right leg kick, now a right high body kick, Tim starts to dance around to kill time and he even adds in a ali shuffle which displeases the audience. Eugene presses Tim against the cage one last time to end the round and the fight.
Official Result: Tim Woods defeats Eugene Fadiora via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
Jesus Martinez (8-5) vs. Ryan Caltaldi (7-7-1)
Round 1: Jesus opens things up trying a to land a wide left hook, Contaldi wrestles Martinez against the fence and tries for a takedown gets it but Jesus tries an armbar. Ryan stacks him against the cage and they basically stay in this position for a minute, Ryan explodes out and drives back into Jesus’s guard. Ryan works his left hand on the ground to Martinez’s face and body, both get back to their feet along the cage and the referee seperates them, Jesus lands a hard right hand and wobbles Ryan then shoots for a takedown and secures it before the round ends.

Round 2: Ryan lands a hard left hook to start things off in round 2, Jesus lands a looping over hand right, Ryan shoots for  a takedown but Jesus takes his back quickly lands some hard right hands and tries a rear naked choke but to no avail. He then lets go of the choke and locks up both his arms and lands hard elbows to the left side of Ryan’s head. Now Jesus starts to land hammerfists, then flattens Ryan out and sinks in a rear naked choke with 30 seconds left, but lets go of the hold and the round ends.

Round 3: Ryan’s corner utilizes a plethora of the terminology for the F-bomb out of motivation, Jesus lands a leg kick and a right uppercut. Then a long right jab is landed for Jesus, but Contaldi lands a counter left, MArtinez misses a right high kick. Jesus lands a series of right to left combos, both fighters are visibly winded, Jesus misses an incredibly slow spinning back fist. Jesus keeps throwing landing a hard right leg kick, Ryan lands a single left hook, but eats a left from Jesus as he backs off, Jesus lands a hard left hook and drops Contaldi to win the round
Official Result: Jesus Martinez defeats Ryan Contaldi via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)

Gemiyale Adkins (8-6) vs. Dante Rivera (15-7-1)
Round 1: Gemiyale lands a right high kick but eats a hard punch, Rivera scores a take down and then is reversed by Adkins who remains on top. The pair remain in this postion for a while and Gemiyale backs off for a second and Dante gets his footing, and takes Gemiyale down, and tries to take the back of Gemiyale and tries a choke but fails and Adkins stands and reverses position and takes Dante down and enters side control and lands elbows to the body to end the round.

Round 2: Gemiyale comes out and immediately pressures Dante against the fence, they drop to the ground for a bit but get up and Adkins starts to stalk. Rivera secures a bodylock out of nowhere and takes Adkins down but not for long at all. Rivera scores a takedown and postures into mount. Adkins gets out the back door but Rivera grabs an arm, and Gemiyale begins stacking Rivera against the cage then enters Dante’s guard. The fighters remain in that position till the end of the round.

Round 3: Rivera misses a headkick and falls, He gets up and rushes in for a hard left hook and ducks where Adkins goes for a flying knee and misses, fighters both back out and circle, Adkins pressures along the cage and lands a left right combo only to be reversed by Dante. They stay along the cage but both work for dominance, Adkins gets a reversal and begins pressuring Dante. Rivera drops for a takedown but it’s stuffed. Then Rivera lands a trip and takes down Gemiyale at the end of the round to end an incredibly hard fight to score.
Official Result: Dante Rivera defeats Gemiyale Adkins via majority decsion (29-29, 30-27, 30-27)
