FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 29, 2014 – Tampa, FL (USA) – TUFMED, Inc., an athletic biotechnology company concerned with the development of natural injury treatment and body care products for elite athletes, has just released the first teaser for its documentary about Eddie Bravo. The film centers around his rematch against Royler Gracie at Metamoris 3 in Los Angeles, California on March 29, 2014. The rematch came nearly 11 years after underdog Eddie defeated the heavily favored Royler at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) grappling tournament, setting the stage for what was considered by many to be the most heavily anticipated rematch in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu history.
The TUFMED film crew spent a week filming Eddie, following him to various training and medical treatment sessions, as well as his appearance on “Inside MMA” on AXS TV. The TUFMED crew captured interviews with Bas Rutten, Joe Rogan, Jean Jacques Machado, Dean Lister, Renato Babalu Sobral, Kenny Florian, Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails, Renato Laranja, Victor Davila, and more. As the pioneer of No Gi Jiu Jitsu, Eddie has been both celebrated and criticized for “abandoning” the traditional Gi in favor of a modern No-Gi approach to the traditional art he feels is more applicable to MMA.
This documentary is not without its controversy as the TUFMED film crew captured exclusive footage of the altercation between Royce Gracie and Eddie immediately following the match, which had to be broken up by Eddie’s instructor and Royce Gracie’s cousin, Jean Jacques Machado. The teaser features clips from that altercation. The documentary will present the altercation in its entirety.
The documentary, slated for completion in Summer 2014, will be released via private screenings in LA, NYC, and Miami prior to being shown at independent film festivals. In the interim, the film is being promoted via social media with the hashtag #BravoFilm.
