Previously scheduled as a light heavyweight feature fight, Mike Mucitelli and Liam McGeary’s fight will now be a Bellator Summer Series Tournament Opening Round fight from Atlantic City’s NJ Revel on Friday, May 2nd 2014.

Both Mucitelli and McGeary are debuting in the tournament as 6-0 professional fighters. Both fighters are forces to be recon with in the cage, coming off as fast finishers. McGeary claimed all his vistories by knockout or submission in the first round, “I never let it go to decision,” he stated. Mucitelli holds five first-round victories, four coming by submission.

Scifighting had the opportunity to discuss the recent change in the fights status with Mike Mucitelli. He shared his thoughts, “I think that its deserved. It’s not only what I want and have been working for, I definitely think it’s what the fans want too. In the light heavyweight division there have been guys who have been brought in and I’ve been working my ass off to move up. This will be my sixth fight with Bellator and that’s what Bellator is about, moving up.” He continued, “I consider myself a Bellator grown fighter, and this is what I got into the sport to shoot for. To finally get this opportunity is beyond exciting. I want to show people you don’t have to have a crazy big name or have been in movies, but can work your way up through the ranks and be in contention for the title. You can come up from Bellator and become one of the best in the world.”

With the stakes having been raised, this is not a fight you will want to miss and given their percentage of finishes, this one is sure to be a war, with one fighter remaining undefeated.
