This Saturday night, live from the Baltiore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, the UFC light heavyweight champion and arguably the greatest fighter to ever live will face a man who could pose the biggest threat to his reign.
Jon Jones (19-1) holds the record for title defenses in the division and will look to extend that streak when he fights Glover Teixeira (22-2), who brings a 20-fight win streak in to the Octagon with him.
The co-main event is another light heavyweight fight which includes another of Jones’ rivals and the return of a true finisher.
Anthony ‘Rumble Johnson (16-4) fights Phil Davis (12-1-1) in the co-main event. A longtime top-ten fighter, Davis will welcome Johnson back to the Octagon, after being cut from the promotion after UFC 142 following issues with him making the 170-pound limit that he used to fight at. Now he will fight at light heavyweight and has a full plate with Davis staring back at him.
The third part of the countdown covers a middleweight fight. Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (11-2) takes on Tim Boetsch (17-6). Rockhold scored his first UFC win over Costas Philippou this past January while Boetsch staved off three losses in a row when he outpointed CB Dolloway at UFC 166.
Below, parts 1-3 of the Countdown to UFC 172.
