UFC on FOX 11 is done and with its conclusion, a new number one heavyweight contender has been crowned.
The first fight on the main card was a middleweight bout between Yoel Romero and Brad Tavares. Romero used his physicality to out-muscle Tavares, who never gave up despite losing the bout via decision.
The next bout was a lightweight and featured one of the more spectacular comebacks of the year. After absorbing around 30 unanswered shots from Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone knocked the Brazilian down with a jab then strangled him for a remarkable victory. This was Cerrone’s second fight in four months, both of which he finished.
The co-main event was a pivotal bout for the women’s bantamweight division as two former title contenders fought. Miesha Tate finally got her first UFC after being finished by champion Ronda Rousey and then by Cat Zingano. She fought Liz Carmouche who lost a narrow decision to Tate in a memorable women’s bout.
The main event was a surprisingly one-sided affair. Battle-tested veteran Fabricio Werdum showed that he could produce a near perfect performance as he routed Travis Browne. The fight began evenly enough but soon, Werdum pulled away and dictated the remainder of the five-round main event. With the win, Werdum claims a shot at the heavyweight title.
