Bellator 115 is headlined by the heavyweights in a Bellator MMA title fight featuring former UFC vet Cheick Kongo (20-8-2) taking on current Bellator Heavyweight Champion, Vitaly Minakov (13-0).
However opening the night is a middleweight feature attraction.
Season 8 Middleweight Tournament participant and Season 9 runner-up, Mikkel Parlo (11-2) will meet Johnny Cisneros (8-2). Mikkel will look to regain his heavy momentum in the Season 9 tournament after only being ousted by eventual winner Brennan Ward by TKO in the 2nd at Bellator 107. However Cisneros will be looking to bring his KOTC prowess where he has fought 8 of the 10 times in his career.
Then the undefeated Swiss Volkan Oezdemir (10-0) will clash with Kelly Anundson (6-2) in a 205 pound contest.
Volkan has started his young career off with a bang having only one fight in his 10 wins reach the final bell and mutilating his first opponent in the Bellator cage, knocking out Josh Lanier in just over 3 minutes with a barrage of punches and elbows at Bellator 105. Kelly will look to steal the swiss army knife’s thunder as he is riding a 3 fight win streak with all 3 wins coming by a form of referee stoppage.
The Co-Main event of two solid welterweights follows.
Herman Terrado will put his (11-3) record on the line against Justin Baseman (14-4). Both will want to look past their Bellator debut losses to established tournament vets, Justin to Brent Weedman at Bellator 100 and Herman to Rick Hawn at the same event. Terrado will look to mimic his success that he had in Strikeforce, going undefeated in the banner and Baseman will attempt to put on the same showings that he was able to provide at Gladiator Challenge where he went 5-1.
And in the main event there will be a clash of titans.
Cheick Kongo (20-8-2) will look to upseat and upset the Vitaly Minakov (13-0).
Kongo went an outstanding 13-6-1 in the UFC before Bellator picked up the highly sought after free agent, once he arrived he didn’t dissapoint. Entering the Bellator Season 9 tournamnet, Kongo brutalized Mark Godbeer at Bellator 102 by dispatching him by knees and punches in the 2nd round. Then he earned a unanimous decsion nod over Peter Graham at Bellator 107, which brings him into the title matchup tomorrow night.
Minakov has a similar story.
Take out the UFC experience and input some M-1 fights to the resume for the undefeated Vitaly. Minakov put on his construction gloves and jackhammered the Bellator Heavyweight division. Knocking out Vladimir Starcinov in his debut, Ron Sparks in 30 seconds at the Heavyweight Semi-Finals, Ryan Martinez in the 3rd round of the Finals, and former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov in just over half a round at Bellator 108.
6-foot-3 vs 6-foot-4 and 20 knockouts between the two heavyweights, find masking tape for your eyes because this is a fight that will make you pay for blinking.
