Preliminary Card (SPIKE.com) 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m.

Middleweight Feature Fight: Jose Rodriguez (2-2) vs. Eric Wahlin (5-2)

Round 1: Eric pressures quick and rushes Jose into the cage then jumps for a guillotine, then Wahlin attempts a standing front choke but they quickly separate. Eric lands a flurry of punches followed by a knee on the cage, then Eric takes Jose down and gets into a can opener position, and Rodriguez is cut around his left eye. Jose then attempts a triangle and captures Eric’s arm but Wahlin re-positions for side control, the pair jockey for dominance and Jose now finds himself on top. Rodriguez lands punches to the ribs and ends the round on top.

Round 2: Wahlin comes out and lands a hard right hook but eats a solid uppercut to the stomach and Jose follows up with a wicked combination that rocks Eric but he comes back and walks through his oppositions onslaught. Both fighters are incredibly gassed and Eric takes Jose down but is sweeped into an arm triangle attempt that forces Wahlin to quickly tap.

Official Result: Jose Rodriguez defeats Eric Wahlin via submission (arm triangle choke) at 2:06 of Round 2

Welterweight Feature Fight: Gavin Sterritt (5-1) vs. Mike Estus (6-1)

Round 1: Estus lands 4 straight right leg kicks, then is caught and lands on his back and Gavin kicks Mike’s legs while he’s on his back. Mike gets up and Sterritt goes for a standing guillotine but fails. Gavin lands an elbow and knee and recieves another leg kick from Estus. Gavin lands a solid knee to Estus which seems to have hurt him a bit. Gavin gains north-south position on the ground and when Mike tries to stand Sterritt lands knees to the body and head. Estus tries to take Gavin down but Sterritt sprawls and attempts a standing guillotine once more and this time locks it in and forces the tap towards the end of the opening round.

Official Result: Gavin Sterritt defeats Mike Estus via submission (guillotine) at 3:29 of Round 1.

Light Heavyweight Feature Fight: Linton Vassell (12-3) vs. Trevor Carlson (7-1)

Round 1: Both come out and circle, Linton throws a right and shoots for a double leg where he lands in Trevor’s guard. Vassell transitions into half-guard then comes close to a crucifix and Travor cage walks trying to get out but eats hammerfists from Linton. Vassell completely controls Carlson on the ground and lands ground and pound here and there. Then short elbows and goes for a rear naked choke with 10 seconds left in the round and almost secures it but lets it go and lands one more right to end the round.

Round 2: Trevor stalks early only to be met with another takedown by Linton. Vassell quickly gets side control then gets mount then takes Carlson’s back for the second time of this fight. Easily secures the rear naked choke and Trevor slaps the canvas calling for the stoppage by Big John in the second round.

Official Result: Linton Vassell defeats Trevor Carlson via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:05 of Round 2.

Lightweight Feature Fight: Bubba Jenkins (5-1) vs. Sean Powers (8-4)

Round 1: Bubba comes out and lands a hard right hand followed by a flurry then takes Sean down and lands more heavy blows but Powers grabs a leg and Jenkins is forced to maintain his balance. Then Jenkins enters Sean’s guard, Bubba continues to land punches and maintains dominance over Powers. Bubba postures up and lands some rights on top, Bubba stays on top and lands another hammer fist to end the round.

Round 2: Jenkins’ corner tells him he doesn’t have to take Sean down and that he can knock him out standing. Bubba immediately disobeys, wrestles for a takedown and enters side control. Powers uses the fence to get up but eats a series of looping rights that knocks him back down and Jenkins enters his guard. Bubba pushes Powers towards the cage while on the ground, Sean is finding it harder and harder to have any kind of offense off of his back. Jenkins lands hard left hands on top to end round 2.

Round 3: As soon as the ref says for the round to begin, Bubba goes right in for a takedown. Alot of the same in the final round, Bubba landing punches here and there on top, Powers showing no power at all from the bottom. Jenkins lands a hard left-right-left combo on top and then goes back into Sean’s guard. Bubba lands hard lefts and seemingly if he landed a few more uncontested blows he’d end the fight but the bell rings.

Official Result: Bubba Jenkins defeats Sean Powers via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Lightweight Feature Fight: Justin Wilcox (13-6) vs. Jason Fischer (6-2)

Round 1: Wilcox comes out quick and showcase a minor amount of boxing then takes Jason down. They both stand and Wilcox starts establishing a nice double jab, Fischer then lands a hard right hand on Wilcox. Justin answers with a right hand of his own then takes Jason down. Wilcox postures up and lands hammerfists but not fight ending ones. Wilcox keeps Jason in this position for the end of the round.

Round 2: Justin lands an over hand right early then gets kicked to the groin on accident by Jason. Fischer lands a hard right and circles around, until Wilcox takes him down. Justin gets into side control quickly, and then alot of the same action that was in round one. Justin has a cut over his left eye, but remains on top until the bell to end round 2 sounds.

Round 3: Justin lands a quick left and circles for a bit then shoots and lands another takedown. Yet again the fight looks like a re-run of rounds 1 and 2. Not alot of action at all, very Jon Fitch esque and very slow moving. Justin stays on top and pit pats here and there and Fischer basically lays there and the round ends identically like rounds 1 and 2.

Official Result: Justin Wilcox defeats Jason Fischer via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
