Bellator 113 Complete Preview and Fight Breakdown

Bellator 113 will be showcased from the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas with prelims kicking off at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Spike.com, followed by the main card which will air on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Headlining the event is a rematch for the Bellator light heavyweight  title between Emanuel Newton (22-7-1) and current champion Attila Vegh (29-4-2).

The 30-year-old Newton is coming off a critic-silencing victory over the outspoken Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and now seeks revenge in the rematch with Vegh as he dropped their first encounter via split decision.

Emmanuel is 10-1 in his last 11 with the lone defeat coming at the hands of Vegh who hasn’t tasted a loss in three and a half years and welds an unblemished 5-0 record under the Bellator banner.

The opening round of the Bellator season 10 lightweight tournament will also commence on this card.

The first contest will headline the prelims between  Brandon Girtz (10-3) and Derek Anderson (10-0) who defeated co-headliner and fellow tournament participant Patricky Freire in his last outing.

Then the main card will begin with another tournament bout featuring Tim Welch (10-4) with all 10 victories coming from a referee stoppage facing Derek Campos (13-3) who is 5-0 in his last five fights.

Following this contest is the 22-year-old Polish prodigy Marcin Held (16-3) going to war with Rodrigo Correia (14-2) who has 8 straight victories by KO including 5 in the first round.

Then on to the co-main event where fan favorite Dave “Caveman” Rickels (15-2) looks to bring his Bellator win count to 10 and make a solid splash in the 155 lb tourney against the always dangerous and heavy hitting Patricky Freire (11-5) who recently dispatched of former Elite XC and Strikeforce standout Edson Berto.

Be sure to tune in to Spike TV to watch these standout lightweights do battle and witness the top two Light heavyweights in the organization go to war for a second time.

Highly passionate MMA Journalist, and I've followed the sport ever since my favorite fighter, Vitor Belfort won the heavyweight tournament at UFC 12. After that I've tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn't want to ruin my face). I'm currently enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University working towards a degree in Communication. I cover MMA, Boxing and Football for The Daily Star newspaper in my hometown of Hammond, Louisiana, in addition to working as a promotional writer for a local Boxing promotion known as BoxnCar and I cover boxing for 8countnews.com however SciFighting.com is my home. My main goal is to bring more publicity to MMA in my area and to the sport as a whole as all of us involved with the sport are merely scratching the surface and laying the foundation of what mixed martial arts competition will be further down the road.
