UFC lightweight contender Benson Henderson will return to the Octagon against Rustam Khabilov in the main event of a June 7th card in Albuquerque.
The ABQJournal reported the news early Tuesday.
Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (20-3) is coming off of yet another controversial decision, this time against Josh Thomson, who took the fight as he waited for current champion Anthony Pettis to return from injury. The fight with Thomson was Henderson’s first since losing his title to Pettis in August at UFC 164.
His opponent, Khabilov (17-1), is undefeated in the UFC with three straight wins. His latest was a decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight for the Troops 3. Khabilov was expected to fight Rafael dos Anjos (who mistook Khabilov for top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov when signing fight contract) but injury scrapped the bout.
This will be the first time the UFC has traveled to Albuquerque, home of the famed Jackson/Winklejohn MMA gym.
