The main event of the upcoming UFC 171 card features a title fight to crown the first new champion in the UFC’s welterweight division since 2006, when Georges St-Pierre reclaimed his title from Matt Serra.
The two men who will look to be written in to the history books are Johny Hendricks (15-2) and Robbie Lawler (22-9, 1 NC).
Before they face off this Saturday from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, watch two of their best finishes from past events.
The first, Robbie Lawler takes out Bobby Voelker, his second opponent since returning to UFC. This fight would be his second straight finish after knocking out Josh Koscheck earlier that year. This resurgence for Lawler earned him ‘Comeback Fighter of the Year’ awards from several publications.
As shown in the video below, Hendricks isn’t the only one with power and coming from Lawler, it gets channeled through a more diverse set of routes.
The next fight and second half of the UFC 171 main event is Johny Hendricks who fought for a title and lost a controversial bout with former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 167. To earn that title shot, however, Hendricks blasted through Marin Kampmann at UFC 154 with a one-punch knockout from across town.
