The main event of GLORY 14 was a battle between two combat sports legends as Remy Bonjasky took on Mirko ‘Filipovic’ Cro Cop.
This fight would serve as Bonjasky’s retirement fight and would surely be a spectacular display between two premiere strikers.
Round 1: Ronjasky came flying in on Cro Cop several times early on. A tentative Cro Cop was getting used to the speed that Bonjasky brought to Zagreb. Cro Cop opened up later in the round and ended his combinations with a clinch each time to negate a counter game of Bonjasky. Bonjasky had the speed on Cro Cop which made the round very difficult to score.
Round 2: Cro Cop was after Bonjasky in round two. He frequented his right kick and pushed Bonjasky around when they clinched up. Both men were slipped up but no knockdowns were scored by either man. Cro Cop was again a bit apprehensive in close but did well to block the knees of Bonjasky in the clinch.
Round 3: Cro Cop caught a low blow from a knee early on but recovered quickly and the final round of Bonjasky’s famed career resumed. Cro Cop attacked Bonjasky and swept him after Bonjasky threw a kick to the body. Cro Cop never let Bonjasky breathe all the way until the last second of the fight as he ended it with a left high kick.
Official Decision: Remy Bonjasky defeats Mirko Cro Cop via Majority Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-29)
SciFighting would like to extend a thank you to Remy Bonjasky for his illustrious career and good luck on all his future endeavors.
