Ronda Rousey’s unbeaten streak is efficiently and effectively contributing to the aura that surrounds her dominance atop the division. Her latest win was a TKO over Sara McMann, her first win of the sort after stringing eight straight armbar wins together.
Her next opponent has ben speculated since the win in the main event of UFC 170 but the problem lies in the fact that her two biggest potential challengers fight outside of the UFC.
One of those two women is her rival, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino who fights under the Invicta banner. What makes sense about a move from Invicta to the UFC is the relationship between the promotions. Invicta has lent its talent to the UFC for the upcoming The Ultimate Fighter 20 season and is more than willing to play ball to help give their fighters the best opportunities available to them.
It is still a matter of getting Cyborg in to the UFC though and despite her manager Tito Ortiz stepping down to clear an animosity-free path to the promotion, we still may not see her in the Octagon by year’s end.
Either way, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan took to the KROQ Kevin and Bean Show and expressed his jubilation for the next step of Rousey’s career: “I wish I could tell you what I know. I wish I could tell you. I know some secret stuff. I know some secret stuff, but I can’t tell you.”
No official word has come down from the UFC on her next opponent’s identity but a fight with Cyborg or even top women’s prospect Holly Holm would be two fights that fans would want to tune in to.
