The co-main and main events of Bellator 110 were the opening round bouts of the season ten light heavyweight tournament as ‘King Mo’ Lawal took on Mikhail Zayats and former Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu fought former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

Here are the official results:

Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Opening Round:

Christian M’Pumbu (18-5) vs. Quinton Jackson (33-11)

Round 1: Rampage ushered M’Pumbu in to fight but he wasn’t throwing punches of his own. M’Pumbu started with leg kicks until Rampage hit with a punch and continued in on him, but wound up in the clinch with his back against the wall. Rampage rocked M’Pumbu again, this time badly. He got on top and put M’Pumbu out with ground and pound.

Official Result: Rampage Jackson defeats Christian M’Pumbu via Knockout at 4:34 of Round 1.

Muhammed Lawal (11-3) vs. Mikhail Zayats (22-7)

Round 1: Lawal got a knee down on Zayats who stood up in to a clinch with him. Lawal pressed him against the cage and separated to a big hook. Lawal and Zayats didn’t do much to score a definitive opening round but the implications of a finish were in each missed punch.

Round 2: Lawal ground Zayats down in round two. Placing his weight on Zayats’ shoulders in the clinch and not giving up on takedowns until he had pushed him against the cage. The rest of the round was a measuring battle. Range had yet to be fully realized and besides a few potshots, round 2 was uneventful.

Round 3: Again, it was Lawal’s persistent takedown attempts that scored him the most points. He didn’t do too much with them but Zayats was not stuffing them without some assistance fro, the cage. They were fatigued and didn’t have a recognizable strategy this late in the fight. The fight ended to a roar of disapproval from the crowd.

Official Result: Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal defeats Mikhail Zayats via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) – Moves on to Light Heavyweight Tournament Semi-Finals
